SGI President Ikeda once wrote, “There is probably nothing that speaks as directly to the human heart as music. Music as a vehicle for peace; music to connect hearts; and music to inspire hope in people’s lives” – these objectives, which captured the noble cultural spirit of the Soka Wind Ensemble (SWE), the YMD Courageous Musician Group (Brass Band) and the YWD Fife-and-Drum-Corps of the SSA, are clearly exemplified by their ever-advancing, ever-refreshing and ever-inspiring music.
On January 8th, these cultural groups came together to present Symphony of Joy 2006 at the Ikeda Culture Auditorium of SSA. The audience was treated to an awesome musical experience. SSA General Director Ong Bon Chai presented the “SSA Cultural Award” to the SWE conductor of the evening, Mr Terence Teow, a full-time musician and aspiring conductor, and a friend of SSA.
