From 12 to 27 March 2011, the late Mr Yam Pak Nin’s works were exhibited for sale at the SSA Headquarter’s Soka Women’s Centre. A group of art enthusiasts and ardent collectors pledged their combined collection of 117 paintings with all proceeds to SSA Building Fund. In all, $39,500 were collected from the sale of 47 paintings.
The the opening ceremony, Guest-of-Honour Mr David Tau, President of the Singapore Photographic Society shared his memories of the talented artist. He hailed Mr Yam as one the few Singaporeans who had exhibited internationally and helped made a name for the island state in the global arena of photography. In Mr Tay’s eyes, Mr Yam was “always an artist, whether in photography or painting”. Like the replendent red flower in his painting Smiling Forever, Mr Yam is unrestrained in his efforts to give something to the world, In doing so, he had given us inspiration and beauty.
