The 2nd International Conference on Cohesive Societies was held from 6 to 8 September 2022 in Singapore. Carrying the theme “Confident Identities, Connected Communities”, the three-day event aims to address the common challenges to social harmony faced by communities around the world, by building trust and sharing of best practices among thought leaders and practitioners, and to inspire collective commitment to strengthening inter-racial and inter-religious harmony. The event was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS).
The Conference also included a Young Leaders Programme (YLP), which provides a platform for young leaders from Southeast Asia and beyond to network and share ideas, so as to help them catalyse local, regional and international collaborations in social cohesion and community building. Two SGS youth leaders, Alan Lee and Shannen Ho, share with us their impressions from participating in the YLP.
