On 26 January 2020, SGS’s Angels of Peace – the Fife and Drums Corps – performed to visiting members of the public who came forth for the Istana Lunar New Year Open House to soak in the festivities. Under bright clear skies, the young women performed to the cheery piece entitled, “Big Fun in the Sun”. President Halimah Yacob and her husband came by to express their appreciation and took a commemorative photo with the Kotekitai girls following their performance.
In celebration of the International Women’s Day, SSA women together with our community partners, launched a Women for Peace movement, with the hosting of a Women for Peace Interfaith Symposium on 9 March 2019 at the SSA Headquarters.
On 15 and 16 February, 240 participants from SSA Regional Headquarters 6 and 8 performed in the Opening Item “Singapore Bicentennial – “Our Past, Present and Future” at the Chingay Parade 2019 that carried the theme “Dreams Funtasia”.

This year marks the 33rd year of SGS’s participation in the National Day Parade (NDP). NDP 2018 in celebration of Singapore’s 53rd birthday, was held on August 9 at Marina Bay Floating Platform, with the theme “We are Singapore”.
On February 17, the second day of the Lunar New Year, SGS’s Sunflower Dance Ensemble (SDE) performed at the Istana Open House in the presence of Singapore President Halimah Yacob, her husband Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee and members of the public.
On October 21, SSA Chairman Michael Yap represented SSA youth division in the People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM)-Partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Ceremony at Our Tampines Hub.
The rays of the sun were barely up for one hour on the morning of November 28 when young women volunteers from SSA assembled at Tampines West Community Club for “Bag of Hope 3”, a SSA community project.
Representing SSA at the National Day Parade 2015 were 850 performers from the Women Division, including for the first time, participants above the age of 60, giving Singapore’s pioneers an opportunity to be part of this significant SG50 NDP.
