SSA Arts and Culture Groups Spread Joy at SGH

SSA Young Women Division will be representing SSA to present a mass display item in Singapore’s National Day Parade (NDP) 2016. The theme of NDP 2016 is “Building Our Singapore of Tomorrow”.
Some 500 Young Women Division (YWD) members will partake in a meaningful performance at the National Day Parade (NDP) 2016 in celebration of the nation’s 51st birthday at the National Stadium in the Sports Hub. It will be SGS’s 31st year participation in NDP.
On December 22, 12 dancers from the SSA Peony Group and 16 Soka Chorus members enjoyed a heartwarming exchange with five representatives from the People’s Republic of China’s Yunnan Overseas Culture and Education Centre. The exchange meeting was held at the Soka Culture Centre in Jurong.
Representing SSA at the National Day Parade 2015 were 850 performers from the Women Division, including for the first time, participants above the age of 60, giving Singapore’s pioneers an opportunity to be part of this significant SG50 NDP.
In addition to celebrating Singapore’s Golden Jubilee with Singaporeans and friends from all around the world, this year’s National Day Parade (NDP) also marks SGS’s 30th NDP performance, a milestone made possible through the united and dedicated efforts of SSA members and friends over the years since 1981.
On July 5, Colonel Lawrence Lim, the Chairman of the 28th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) Opening and Closing Ceremonies Executive Committee, presented SSA with a 28th SEA Games Torch in recognition and appreciation of SSA’s contributions in the 28th SEA Games Opening Ceremony.
On June 5, some 1,200 SSA youths performed in the Opening Ceremony of the 28th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) Singapore 2015 at Singapore National Stadium.
A total of 110 performers from the Golden Lion Dance Troupe, Sunflower Dance Ensemble, Soka Chorus and Soka Junior Choir brought cheer and the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year through a heartwarming concert to some 100 patients and visitors at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) on February 27, 2015—the ninth day of the Lunar New Year.
On February 27 and 28, 2015, the lanes of the Singapore F1 Pit Building were filled not with race cars, but with 11,000 vibrant multi-cultural dancers of the Chingay Parade 2015–the largest street performance and float parade in Asia.
