To begin, I was someone who did not chant much, sometimes to the point where I didn’t even do gongyo. However, in 2018, I began to chant more hoping to do well for my Primary School Leaving Examination and get into my desired secondary school.
Since young, I have been following my mum in practising Nichiren Buddhism. At the age of 17, I experienced the actual proof of faith for the first time.
我从小就跟随母亲修行日莲佛法。17岁时,我第一次体验到信心的现证。通过佛道修行,我克服学习上的困难,最终被我心仪的学校录取。这促使我开始认真修行,积极参加创价学会的活动。
“There are many ways to be filial to your parents, and one of them is to chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo!” These were the words of a Women Division leader who encouraged me to practise Nichiren Buddhism.
In February 2019, I left Singapore to pursue a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies in Australia at the University of Queensland. I graduated in July 2020 and started a Doctorate program that October.
