As Singapore battles the COVID-19 pandemic during the circuit breaker period, the national blood supply dipped to a new low and critical level. On 16 May, SSA partnered the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) and held a blood donation drive with SSA Headquarters as the venue sponsor.
Kudos to our unsung heroes and heroines for going out of their way to care for others in this COVID-19 pandemic. Every seemingly simple action counts in these challenging times. Thank you and let’s soldier on with positivity during this circuit breaker period!
Congratulations to our Youth Division leaders for successfully completing a series of 3.16 online commemorative meetings in March!
A total of 115 chapters with some 1,230 youth have created fresh resolve and momentum towards May 3, 2020, as their next milestone in achieving victories. Kudos to our brave-hearted Youth Division! Thank you for illuminating our island with hope and joy amid COVID-19!
In response to the recent nationwide call for the “BYOB-Free Sanitizer Collection” exercise, SSA youth stepped forward to help out in the mass distribution exercise of free sanitizers held over a week at the various Community Centres. Thank you to all for showing you care!
Amid these challenging times of COVID-19, SSA reached out to our senior citizens staying alone with no caregivers, to ensure they are updated of the latest situation. A SSA care pack containing essential items such as mask, sanitizer, rice pack etc was presented to them as a gesture of our concern.
Presenting the beautiful design for SSA’s New Building @ Punggol!
As what President Ikeda shares in the New Human Revolution ‘Bold Advance’ Chapter, “Gakkai culture centers are not idle palaces of luxury; they are bastions of kosen-rufu. Bastions are a base from which a struggle is carried out. So the most fitting way to mark the new completion of a bastion is with victory in a struggle.”, let us all create brilliant victories towards the completion of the New Building @ Punggol by November 2021!
After close to 3 months of hard work, 100 of our Future Division members and another 100 Merdeka Generation members wow-ed the audience at the annual Chingay Parade held at the F1 Pit over 31 January and 1 February. This year marks SGS’s 36th year of participation in the Chingay Parade, an annual international street parade held during the Lunar New Year period. This year, SSA participated in two performing items – the Opening Segment where 100 (Secondary 1) Future Division members entered with the Guest-of-Honour (Prime Minister and President for both days respectively); and “Bridge of Harmony” where 100 Merdeka Generation (Singaporeans born between 1950–1959) leaders performed in a travelling dance item. Well done all SSA performers!
Catch both the SSA items this Sunday 9 February, 7pm or 16 February, 4.30pm on Channel 8!
Preparations for National Day Parade (NDP) 2020 has kickstarted!
On 30 January, NDP2020 Exco Chairman BG Frederick Choo and Show Chairman COL Wong Shi Ming led the NDP2020 Organising Committee team to call on General Director Tay Eng Kiat at the SSA Headquarters.
This year’s NDP celebrates the nation’s 55th year of independence and marks SGS’s 35th year of participation in the annual national celebration. Look out for the recruitment details coming up very soon!
On 26 January 2020, SGS’s Angels of Peace – the Fife and Drums Corps – performed to visiting members of the public who came forth for the Istana Lunar New Year Open House to soak in the festivities. Under bright clear skies, the young women performed to the cheery piece entitled, “Big Fun in the Sun”. President Halimah Yacob and her husband came by to express their appreciation and took a commemorative photo with the Kotekitai girls following their performance.
