On 26 February, SGS General Director Tay Eng Kiat attended the Roses of Peace 10th Anniversary and Launch of Harmony Champions Programme held at The Istana. Guest-of-Honour for the event was President Halimah Yacob. An appreciation award was presented to SGS for our partnership over the years.
Some 430 people attended the 7th Wee Kim Wee-Soka International Seminar on Global Peace and Understanding held on 16 February at the SMU School of Law, and via Zoom.
On 8th February 2023, researcher and lecturer from the University of Indonesia, Dr Devie Rahmawati and Mrs Youna Chatrine Bachtiar, lecturer from University Esa Unggul (Jakarta) paid a visit to SGS headquarters with an interest to have a better understanding of the global movement of the SGI.
On 6 February 2023, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck the Turkish-Syria border, followed by more than 2,100 aftershocks.
On 1 February, NDP 2023 Exco Chairman COL Terence Ho and Show Chairman SLTC Chen Zhenhao led the NDP 2023 Organising Committee team to call on General Director Tay Eng Kiat at the SGS Headquarters.
On 3 & 4 February 2023, 80 participants from SGS Choir Groups and 80 Future Division members performed in Act 3 and Act 5 respectively of Chingay 2023 titled, “Embrace Tomorrow”.
SGS is privileged to enjoy strong friendship with various community partners over the years.
On 3 January, some 85 children started their exciting journey at the Soka Preschool. Formerly known as Soka Kindergarten, the School has now expanded its scope to include childcare services from this January at the auspicious timing of their 30th year of establishment since 1993.
The theme for Chingay 2023 has been set as “Embrace Tomorrow”! In addition to the SGS Choir Groups who will be putting up a mass choir recital, 80 Future Division (FD) members will also be participating in Chingay 2023. This will mark SGS’s 39th year of participation in the annual event.
On 18 November, the Soka Kindergarten held its 29th graduation ceremony for some 50 K2 students.
