“Fundamentally, if we seek to build harmonious religious relations and establish peace in the world, we need to cultivate and nurture the power of goodness within all human beings. Whether people are religious or non-religious, that goodness is inherent within their lives.
On the morning of June 12, a delegation of 29 senior Chinese government officials visited SSA HQ to learn about SGS’s role in promoting racial harmony and social cohesiveness in Singapore’s multi-racial and multi-religious society.
Some 20 students from the National University of Singapore (NUS) University Scholars Programme (USP) paid a visit to SSA Headquarters on a study programme for inter-faith learning on May 28.
The First Youth for Peace Interfaith Symposium was held at the Singapore Expo Hall 4 on March 16.
On June 21, SSA Vice General Director Mr Chan Heng Yuen, Education Programme Committee Chairperson Ms Josephine Phoon and Peace Committee member Mr Lim Jih Yang attended the official opening of the seminar “Role of Community Leaders Towards Promoting The Culture of Durable and Lasting Peace” held at the Al Malik Faisal Hall of the Islamic Centre Jamiyah.
Some SSA representatives participated in interfaith dialogues and seminars held over the months of February and March.
On January 27, some 20 SSA youth representatives were amongst the 200 strong audience who attended the culmination of the Singapore Inter-Faith Youth Forum held at the Singapore Management University.
As part of the continuing efforts for interfaith dialogue and interaction, two SSA representatives attended a talk organised by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) at the MUIS Harmony Centre on January 25.
On October 25, 14 students from the Biblical Graduate School of Theology (BGST) visited SSA Headquarters and interacted with SSA representatives at an evening event of faith sharing.
The “Gandhi, King, Ikeda: A Legacy of Building Peace” international exhibition opened at the Tampines West Community Club on October 15.
