Living the Peace Proposal through Acts of Kindness

Treasure Everything!

A month-long project of the SSA Student Division (SD), code-named HR30 and themed “Treasure Everything”, aimed to have the youths engage in simple acts of kindness and compassion that give meaning to the phrase “sharing the joy and suffering of others.”

It was the annual June Project of the SD and the youths seek to deepen their understanding and application of the Peace Proposal by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda. In the 2013 Peace Proposal, President Ikeda stated in part that “the key to creating a global society of peace and creative coexistence is to share the joy and suffering of others.”

In extending their acts of kindness, the youths challenged themselves in carrying out one-on-one contacts either in person or via social media. These acts that focused on changing ourselves and another person positively crystalized in an exhibition of moving photographs that was showcased on June 16 at the SSA Headquarters. A forum discussing the key learning points from President Ikeda’s 2013 Peace Proposal was also the highlight of the day.

Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC, Mr Baey Yam Keng was among the distinguished guests and friends who attended the event.
