SSA Representatives participates in Youth Forum
Seven SSA youth representatives were invited to participate in the People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM) Policy Forum: YOUTHSpeak on National Day Rally 2013, held at Toa Payoh SAFRA on August 30. The forum was presided by Dr Janil Puthucheary, Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, and Chairman of the Panel of Advisers to PAYM Central Youth Council. About 200 young people, ranging from student leaders, youth volunteers, and young working adults, gathered to discuss why and how education contribute to the future of Singapore.
“It is only through talking and interacting with others that we are able to truly develop ourselves. Dialogue involves learning from others. It requires respect for others. These two points are what make successful dialogue possible. When we learn from others, we are enriched. Such enriching dialogue is a source of joy, happiness and peace. Dialogue itself is proof of the victory of humanity.” True to the above words of SGI President Ikeda, the SSA youth representatives actively joined the rest in sharing their heartfelt views, insights and thoughts on the latest developments in education policy announced at the National Day Rally 2013 by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, initiating warm dialogues and lively discussions among the young Singaporeans.
