In the months of September and October, members of the SSA Hoju Group (Treasure Longevity Group) and the Soka Volunteer Group participated in “Wish Upon A Silver Star” community fund-raising project organised by the North East Community Development Council (CDC) and NTUC FairPrice Foundation. The participants penned well-wishes on strips of paper and folded them into stars.
The organisers sponsored $10 for every ten stars folded. The amount collected provided essential household items to 200 elderly residents of the North East District.
SSA participants contributed 20,000 out of the one million stars collected for this meaningful project which raised a total of S$100,000.00. The stars would be used to create art pieces and sculptures and sold for charity.
