To promote awareness on healthy lifestyle and good eating habits, the Soka Medical Group (SMG) held the SSA Health Fair for 100 members above 35 years old at the SSA Headquarters on 21 August 2011. The Health Promotion Board provided an exhibition on dental problems and illnesses caused by poor nutrition. Talks on these topics were also conducted by SMG members Dr Yee Rui Xiang and Ms Er Pei Ling respectively.
Besides benefitting from the dental care and nutrition talks, participants also had their blood pressure and lipid profile checked for a nominal fee. Hopefully, results of these tests could help prevent or detect chronic illnesses. Additionally, two Body Mass Index (BMI) machines were set up for participants to have their BMI measured. Soka Medical Group Chief Lee Kim Hong hopes that the fair would help create awareness amongst members and their families about good health practices.
