On 11 March, over 200 people participated in the Soka Women Lecture, titled “Empowering Women in the Digital Age” held in-person at the SGS Headquarters. This lecture – the fifth in its series since 2019 – was held in collaboration with Infocomm Media Development Authority’s (IMDA) SG Digital Office (SDO). This year’s theme is also in line with 2023’s theme for International Women’s Day which is, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality” by UN Women.
Mr Guilford Lim, Programme Head from IMDA SDO, shared anti-scam tips on how one can increase awareness of scams and phishing threats; valuable knowledge on how to safeguard personal information, and stay vigilant against scams. This was followed by an engaging question and answer session where the audience raised many practical questions concerning their cybersafety.
Ms Tan Jeok Ngan, a SGS Women Division shares that:
“Scam is very prevalent in Singapore. From this lecture, I have learnt how to protect myself against these dynamic online threats.”
Ms Cale Chew, a fellow SGS Women Division also reflects that:
“It is better to be safe than sorry. Indeed, ‘there is no free lunch in this world’. The lecture is useful and relevant to me. Thank you SGS and SDO for the good work!”
