On 13 March, more than 680 people participated in the online Soka Women Lecture 2021 that discussed the theme, “Strengthening Our Emotional Resilience Beyond Covid-19”.
Over the past month, Soka Volunteers Group (SVG) members have been engaging with our partners – the PPIS and SPD Toa Payoh – over virtual sessions to bring joy and hope to the young and old.
To mark this month of great significance – 90th anniversary of Soka Gakkai’s Founding and 20th anniversary of SGI President Ikeda’s third visit to Singapore – SSA is honoured to establish the Singapore Soka Education Bursary with the National University of Singapore (NUS), the leading and oldest higher education institution in Singapore founded since 1905. Mr Ikeda first did a book donation to the University during his inaugural visit to the Lion City in 1988.

On 25 November 2020, the symbolic ceremony was held at the SSA Headquarters with guests from NUS in attendance. Starting from academic year 2021/2022, the Singapore Soka Education Bursary will be awarded to financially needy undergraduates enrolled in any course of study at NUS, bursary recipients would need to demonstrate contributions to the community through efforts in volunteerism and peace work, as well as qualities in leadership and social responsibility. Heartiest congratulations to all on the new milestone in this significant year!

SSA is humbled to be awarded the inaugural Friends of Community Care (FOCC) Award organised by the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC), in recognition of our longstanding contributions to the Community Care sector.
Dover Park Hospice presents Community Partner Awards to SSA in acknowledgement of the longstanding partnership over the past 15 years.
With the gradual easing of the circuit breaker measures, SSA has recently reached out once again to some of our seniors who are staying alone with no caregivers to ensure they are keeping well.
On Saturday 18 July, some 300 SSA volunteers came together at the Kranji Camp to help out in the packing of the Singapore Together Pack.
As Singapore battles the COVID-19 pandemic during the circuit breaker period, the national blood supply dipped to a new low and critical level. On 16 May, SSA partnered the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) and held a blood donation drive with SSA Headquarters as the venue sponsor.
As the national blood supply dips to a new low and critical levels during this circuit breaker period, SSA has stepped forward to partner the Singapore Red Cross in holding a blood donation drive happening at the SSA Headquarters on Saturday, 16 May 2020, 10am to 4pm!
