On 20 January, the 6th Annual Wee Kim Wee-Soka International Seminar on Global Peace and Understanding was held via Zoom webinar. This is the sixth in a series that SGS has collaborated with SMU since 2016.
A new school term has started for our Soka Kindergarten children on January 4, 2022! May all of them enjoy learning, make many friends, and grow to be strong, righteous and free!
On 19 December, some 600 members sat for the SGS’s Elementary Buddhist Study Examinations held across four of our centres islandwide.
Preparations towards Chingay50 has begun! Next year, representatives from SGS Young Men Division Courageous Musicians and Young Women Division Fife-and-drum Corps (Kotekitai) will be putting up a marching band display item in the 2022 annual Chingay showcase.
On 5 December, the Soka Chorus held an online concert in celebration of their 30th anniversary this year. A repertoire of songs and heartwarming sharing were presented to some 300 audience comprising choir members’ families and friends in appreciation of their strong support over the past years.
On 19 November, the Soka Kindergarten (SK) held its graduation ceremony for some 60 K2 children amidst the current challenging pandemic situation.
On 21 November, over 900 people participated in the virtual Soka Women Lecture that discussed on the topic “Families Emerging Stronger: Overcoming Family Issues and Coping with Stress Arising From Covid”. The lecture was held in collaboration with Fei Yue Community Services, with the Ministry of Social and Family as one of the activities in support of the Year of Celebrating SG Women.
On 24 September, Soka Kindergarten (SK) and PPIS held an online exchange programme where the young children from both institutions shared their sustainability efforts with one another.
On 2 October, over 170 youths from the Singapore Soka Association (SSA) held a virtual dialogue session with Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information & Ministry of Health, Adviser to Pasir Ris-Punggol Grassroots Organisations (GROs).
