On 1 August, SSA hosted a group of 25 Secondary Four students and 2 teachers from Gan Eng Seng Secondary School to the Senja Soka Centre for their Learning Journey. Their visit was facilitated by three SSA members from the SSA Educators Group.
On 6 July, SSA Management Committee Chairperson Chan Mei Wah and Women Division Chief Sek Soon Heng attended the PPIS’ ’Post Hari Raya Celebrations where President Halimah Yacob was the Guest of Honour.
On 1 August, volunteers from the Soka Volunteers Group (SVG) accompanied senior citizens from the SPD@Toa Payoh on a guided tour around the Asian Civilisation Museum’s permanent galleries to learn about the rich Asian cultures.
Under the theme, “Honoring our Pioneers”, 85 K1 children embarked on 2019 ‘Start Small, Dream Big'(SSDB) Journey, with the early childhood community to celebrate Singapore’s Bicentennial.
On 30 June, the SSA Student Division (SD) held the third Youth for Peace Symposium (YFPS) at the SSA Headquarters with some 500 attendees consisting of SD members, friends and guests from interfaith organisations.
In a move to further safeguard religious harmony in Singapore, SSA has joined more than 250 key religious communities in the Commitment to Safeguard Religious Harmony (the ‘Commitment’) in Singapore. The commitment is seen as an enhancement to the existing Declaration of Religious Harmony, in that it lays out specific ways for Singaporeans to interact with each other.
Soka Volunteers Group (SVG) members held a series of handicraft and storytelling sessions with students from the PPIS (Singapore Muslim Women’s Association) Student Care Centre in the month of June as part of the school holiday activities.
On 18 June, SSA General Director Tay Eng Kiat, hosted a visit by Mr Low Swee Seh, CEO of Tzu Chi Singapore, to the SSA Headquarters.
From 30 May to 1 June, 89 six-year-old children from the Soka Kindergarten (SK) embarked on an overnight independence camp at KidZania Singapore.
On June 3, volunteers from the Soka Volunteers Group (SVG) accompanied senior citizens from SPD@Toa Payoh on a day outing to the Gardens by the Bay for a leisurely nature walk.
