On 6 February 2023, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck the Turkish-Syria border, followed by more than 2,100 aftershocks.
After learning about the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25, SSA held a donation drive during the World Peace Prayer Meetings on May 1 and 3 to support the humanitarian relief efforts of Mercy Relief, a Singapore-based non-governmental humanitarian charity.
SSA members donated a total of S$13,418.40 at a fund-raising event held in aid of the victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan, which struck the Philippines in November. The event was held at the SSA Headquarters, Senja Soka Centre and Soka Culture Centre on November 24.

A week-long donation drive at the SSA Headquarters following the SSA Family Day event on 11th August raised $5,671.25 to support the humanitarian efforts for victims of the Gansu earthquake in China.
SSA initiated a fund-raising campaign for the victims of the massively destructive earthquake and tsunami that hit the northeastern Japan on 11 March 2011. The fund-raising drive that lasted till the end of March raised a total of $710,948, of which $510,948 were channelled to humanitarian organisation Mercy Relief (MR) in support of their relief efforts in Japan. Additionally, the Soka Kindergarten students helped raised $1,535.85. This amount was also channelled to Mercy Relief.
On 21 May 2011, 10 SSA representatives participated in a humanitarian seminar on “Natural Disasters & Humanity” organised by Mercy Relief (MR). The seminar was MR’s very first, with the aim of furthering their understanding of the psychology of the communities in times of disasters, thereby enhancing their relief efforts.
