This year marks the significant 15th anniversary of the naming of the Dendrobium Kaneko Ikeda (DKI) orchid since 27 February 2007.
On February 27, 2007, a ceremony was held at the Singapore National Botanic Garden, with its 150-year history, to name a new orchid: Dendrobium Kaneko Ikeda.
It has been five years since an enchanting new orchid hybrid of exquisite elegance was named in honour of Mrs Kaneko Ikeda, Honorary Women Leader of Soka Gakkai International in recognition of her commitment and selfless contribution to the movement of building lasting global peace.
A Kaneko Orchid Greenhouse and Garden opens at the Okinawa Training Centre in Onna-son, Okinawa, Japan on November 18.

A set of stamps with the new orchid hybrid Dendrobium Kaneko Ikeda was recently printed by Singapore Post (SingPost). SSA collaborated with SingPost to print and design three sets of local stamps which comes in denominations of 25 cents, 60 cents, 70 cents, S$1.
On February 27, an Orchid naming ceremony dedicated in honor of Mrs Kaneko Ikeda, wife of the Soka Gakkai International President Daisaku Ikeda, was held at the National Orchid Garden.
