On September 21, SSA co-organized the “International Day of Peace” Observance event with Mercy Relief, Jamiyah Singapore, Young Sikh Association, Inter-Religious Organization to commemorate the International Day of Peace.
From 21-24 September, SSA organised the “Building a Culture of Peace for the Children of the World” exhibition at the Singapore Management University (SMU). This exhibition was put up together with a series of events held by the school in commemoration of September 21 – the International Day of Peace.
Some 50 leaders of various faiths gathered to pray for peace in the Middle East at an event organised by the Inter-Religious Organisation on August 8. SSA Chairman Ong Bon Chai attended the ceremony held at the Raffles Town Club.
The United Nations has proclaimed the period 2001-2010 as the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-violence for the Children of the World, to emphasize the need for the international community to recognize and ensure assistance for children exposed to harmful and violent situations.
This is the core message that speaker Dr N Rahdakrishnan wanted to impress upon the 1,000 strong audience at the Women Peace Lecture (WPL) held on June 11 at the Ikeda Culture Auditorium (ICA) of SSA.
“A mentor elevates us (his disciples) to a higher plane, keeps a constant watch on us and ensures that we lead the kind of life we should live,” shared Dr Neelakanta Radhakrishnan at the Sixth Youth Peace Lecture.
June 10 was the day of the Opening of “Gandhi, King and Ikeda: A Legacy of Building Peace” exhibition, held at the Art Gallery of Singapore Management University (SMU).
