SSA Members Sit For Buddhist Study Examination (Elementary Level)

As a mean to deepen their faith, more than 1,500 members travelled from various parts of Singapore to Northland Secondary School in Yishun to sit for the Buddhist Study Examination (Elementary Level) on 19 June 2011.

One of them was Mdm Goh Hock Tee from Pasir Ris Chapter District 2 who is almost 70 years of age. Despite having Presbyopia (deterioration of eyesight due to aging) and only Primary 6 education, Mdm Goh took up the challenge to sign up for this year’s Buddhist Study Examination (Elementary Level). Not only did she work hard on preparing for the paper, she even contributed her home for her district’s tutorial session in preparation for the exam. She shared, “Although I cannot express myself well in writing, I wanted to challenge myself for this exam. It is also one way in which I express my gratitude for having this wonderful practice in my life!”

Mr Yee Kong Pak, Acting Study Department Chief expressed his appreciation to everyone involved, “The overall response is good. I am very encouraged and touched by the strong seeking spirit of all the participants. Some came very early all the way from the East to take the examination. There are some who are on wheelchair, but did not allow it to dampen their seeking spirit nor deter them from taking the examination to deepen their faith. Our logistics groups – the Byakuren and Young Lion, behind-the -scenes duty personnel, including the invigilators provided seamless support. Every came together to make this exam a great success! A big thank you to everyone.”
