In appreciation of his 50-year leadership on the movement to achieve world peace, the Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebrations Committee presented Soka Gakkai International President Dr Daisaku Ikeda a recognition award at the opening ceremony of the Chinese New Year celebrations on the 23 January 2010. The award serves as an affirmation of Dr Ikeda’s efforts of promoting peace through arts and culture activities.
On the 22 January 2010, Singapore Soka Association received an award of recognition for 5 years of service during the Dover Park Hospice annual volunteers
At the Soka Gakkai Day commemorative meeting on 3 May 2009, Singapore Soka Association General Director Ong Bon Chai was presented the Global Kosen-rufu Contribution Award from the Soka Gakkai International.
On February 6, the first SSA-Ikeda Peace Award was presented to a second year student of Singapore Management University (SMU) on SMU’s Patron’s Day.
On behalf of SSA, Young Men Division Leader Leonard Koh received a commendation of appreciation from the Lunar New Year 2009 Lightup Chinatown Organizing Committee at the event held at Chinatown on January 3.
On December 13, SSA was commended for the support in partnering Mercy Relief through the campaign “Cultivating a Grateful and Gracious Society” (CGGS).
On November 18, humanitarian organization Mercy Relief presented a commendation to SGI President Daisaku Ikeda for his inspirational leadership. SSA Chairman Ong Bon Chai received the commendation from Mr T K Udairam, Chairman of Mercy Relief, at a meeting held in the presence of some 2,000 SSA members and guests at the SSA Headquarters.
Through the various collaborations between the Singapore Management University (SMU) and SSA since 2005, much rapport and trust has been established between the two organizations. As such, the invitation of establishing the SSA-Ikeda Peace Award within the SMU, comes in recognition of SGS’s invaluable contribution to SMU and to society at large.
SGI President Daisaku Ikeda was honored by the Chinatown Chinese New Year 2008 Organizing Committee for his “tireless promotion of peace, culture and education” at the annual Lunar New Year Street Light-Up 2008 held on January 19, 2008.
