On 6 September, the 9th Annual SMU-Ikeda Peace and Harmony Lecture, titled “Happiness and Peace in a Troubled World” convened with great success, drawing an online audience of approximately 1,200 attendees via Zoom and Facebook LIVE.
On 3 July, SGS did a book donation of President Daisaku Ikeda’s titles to the Central Library of the National University of Singapore (NUS). This is the second book donation to the University with the first personally carried out by Mr Ikeda during his inaugural visit to Singapore 35 years ago in 1988.
The 8th Annual Ikeda Peace and Harmony Lecture successfully took place on 23 September at the Singapore Management University Yong Pung How School of Law.
On 24 September, Soka Kindergarten (SK) and PPIS held an online exchange programme where the young children from both institutions shared their sustainability efforts with one another.
To mark this month of great significance – 90th anniversary of Soka Gakkai’s Founding and 20th anniversary of SGI President Ikeda’s third visit to Singapore – SSA is honoured to establish the Singapore Soka Education Bursary with the National University of Singapore (NUS), the leading and oldest higher education institution in Singapore founded since 1905. Mr Ikeda first did a book donation to the University during his inaugural visit to the Lion City in 1988.

On 25 November 2020, the symbolic ceremony was held at the SSA Headquarters with guests from NUS in attendance. Starting from academic year 2021/2022, the Singapore Soka Education Bursary will be awarded to financially needy undergraduates enrolled in any course of study at NUS, bursary recipients would need to demonstrate contributions to the community through efforts in volunteerism and peace work, as well as qualities in leadership and social responsibility. Heartiest congratulations to all on the new milestone in this significant year!
