SSA presents Earth Charter at the National Youth Environment Forum 2008

Dr Kenneth Low, member of the SSA Peace Committee represented SSA to speak on the Earth Charter and its principles at the closing plenary Session at the National Youth Environment Forum 2008. Held on May 10, the Guest of Honor for this event themed “Beyond Awareness”, was Dr Amy Khor, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Environment and Water Resources.

Seventh Daisaku Ikeda Annual Lecture Reported In The Straits Times

The Seventh Daisaku Ikeda Annual Lecture was successfully held on December 10, at the SSA Headquarters. Speaking on the topic, “Buddhism, Singapore and Interfaith Dialogue”, Director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS), HE Ambassador K Kesavapany engaged the audience throughout the session with his lively sharing. Chairing the session was Professor Howard Hunter, President of the Singapore Management University.

Third SSA Student Peace Lecture held @ Singapore Management University

The third SSA Student Peace Lecture was held at the Singapore Management University (SMU) on November 21. Newspapers Columnist, Advisor and Former President of Malaysian Aids Council, Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir was the distinguished speaker sharing to the crowd of some 250 who packed the Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium. Chairing the lecture was Prof Kirpal Singh from SMU, Associate Professor of English Literature and Creative Thinking.
