Celebrating the Lunar New Year with Friends from SPD

On February 1, sixty volunteers from the Soka Volunteer Group (SVG) accompanied thirty members of SPD (formerly the Society for the Physically Disabled) to tour the street markets in Chinatown and immerse in the Lunar New Year festive atmosphere. The SVG members also prepared a medley of songs with melodious chords from the ukulele as accompaniment.

Year-end Celebration with Seniors from SPD@Toa Payoh

On December 13, a group of Soka Volunteer Group (SVG) members spent a meaningful afternoon at SPD@Toa Payoh to celebrate the year-end festivities, and to mark the second year of friendship between the seniors and the volunteers of the Elderly Befriending Programme. The SVG volunteers prepared a series of classic oldies in both English and Mandarin, with two talented volunteers on the Ukulele.

Spreading Joy at SGH Culture Night

It was a special evening for some of the patients in Singapore General Hospital (SGH) on November 24. Volunteers clad in yellow shirt entered their rooms sharing with them that they could look forward to a feast of cultural performances by SSA Arts and Culture Groups at the SGH Culture Night. These volunteers belong to the Soka Volunteer Group (SVG) and the event was a community engagement activity brought about by SSA in partnership with SGH.
