On July 21, CEO of the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) BG (Volunteer) Lim Teck Yin, who is also the grandson of the late MG (Posthumous) Lim Bo Seng, one of Singapore’s honoured patriot, visited SSA’s culture group — the Soka Youth Dance Crew (SYDC) — at their kick-off dance training at the Soka Culture Centre at Jurong.
About 30 treasured friends of SSA, including Professor and Mrs Lim Chong Yah, Professor Tham Seong Chee, Dr Tan Eng Chaw, Dr Agnes Chang, Mr Tan Thiam Lye, as well as representatives from the inter-faith, cultural and community sectors, gathered for a reunion dinner on February 28, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the first visit by SGI President Ikeda to Singapore in February 1988.
The annual SSA Book Fair held on 3 and 4 September 2011 at the SSA Headquarters welcomed more than 3,600 visitors. Amidst the vast array of publications on Buddhism, life and society, the fair also featured a host of new titles including “An Introduction to Nichiren Buddhism:, “Breakthroughs” – a collection of SSA Men Division members’ experiences, and “Singapore: Where the Crown of Humanity Shines” – a new edition of the compilation of poems and essays on Singapore written by SGI President Ikeda., along with speeches and guidance he gave on his three visits to Singapore.
On 15 August 2011 – a day following the Prime Minister’s National Day Rally Speech 2011 – 4 SSA youth representatives participated in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) organised by the People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM) at the People’s Association Headquarters to discuss key points of the Speech.

This year, SSA performed in Act 2 at the National Day Parade as Singapore celebrated her 46th year of independence at the Marina Bay platform. Titled “Majulah! The Singapore Spirit”, the show was staged as a musical in five acts.
On the sunny day of 10 July 2011, more than 15,000 visitors and 2,000 performers and working personnel made the GO! Carnival held at the People’s Association (PA) Headquarters a roaring good time!
On 21 May 2011, 10 SSA representatives participated in a humanitarian seminar on “Natural Disasters & Humanity” organised by Mercy Relief (MR). The seminar was MR’s very first, with the aim of furthering their understanding of the psychology of the communities in times of disasters, thereby enhancing their relief efforts.
