On 31 August, SSA seniors and Soka Volunteers Group members joined Adviser to Tampines GRC, Minister Masagos Zulkifli and senior residents from the Tampines community in the “Food That Binds 2019” project.
On 17 August, SSA General Director Tay Eng Kiat and volunteers from the Soka Volunteers Group (SVG) participated in the SG Cares “Celebrating Our Culture of Care” finale event held at Our Tampines Hub.
Soka Volunteers Group (SVG) members held a series of handicraft and storytelling sessions with students from the PPIS (Singapore Muslim Women’s Association) Student Care Centre in the month of June as part of the school holiday activities.
On June 3, volunteers from the Soka Volunteers Group (SVG) accompanied senior citizens from SPD@Toa Payoh on a day outing to the Gardens by the Bay for a leisurely nature walk.
On May 5, 36 SSA volunteers spent a heart-warming afternoon with 20 female senior residents from the St. Andrew’s Nursing Home (Henderson) “SANH”, engaging them over music, songs and personal makeovers based on the theme “Little Nyonya”. This is the 2nd year SSA is partnering with SANH to bring joy to the elderly.
In celebration of the International Women’s Day, SSA women together with our community partners, launched a Women for Peace movement, with the hosting of a Women for Peace Interfaith Symposium on 9 March 2019 at the SSA Headquarters.
On 21 January, some 55 volunteers from the Soka Volunteer Group (SVG) brought 30 SPD members for an annual visit to the bustling streets of the Chinatown district to soak in the Lunar New Year festivities and engage with the community.

With the rising emphasis on enhancing social and health support for senior citizens, SSA has been working closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Agency of Integrated Care (AIC) on a series of community projects benefitting senior citizens.
